Academy Scholars Loan Report - February

In our latest loan report, we take a look to see how Jack Loughran, Arnold Manyesa and Karsten Cairns are faring.

Jack is currently out on loan with Redditch United in step three. Arnold and Karsten are in step four with Coventry Sphinx and Newcastle Town respectively.

Jack Loughran - Redditch

Jack has made 16 appearances for the club so far, including 11 starts.

Primarily operating in the number 10 role, he has also shown his versatility by featuring on the right wing.

The attacking midfielder was on the scoresheet as Redditch secured an impressive Birmingham County FA Senior Cup victory over National League side Solihull Moors.

His manager noted that Jack had shown signs of fatigue during a busy spell, which led to a reduction in starts. The break has helped him recharge, however, and his performances have picked up again in recent weeks.

At his best, Jack has been described as “sharp and explosive”. He has been tasked with improving his decision making.

Karsten Cairns - Newcastle Town

Karsten has made four appearances for Newcastle, starting twice, and has already earned Man of the Match honours in two of those games.

The centre-back has played a key role in helping the team secure two clean sheets.

Manager Neil Baker has praised Karsten for adapting well during his loan spell, handling challenging conditions and facing some quality strikers with confidence.

While Baker noted there is room for a little more composure in his clearances, overall he is pleased with the youngster’s performances and development so far.

Arnold Manyesa - Coventry Sphinx

Arnold has featured in five games for Coventry, including two starts, and has impressed with his versatility, playing in central midfield, at number 10, and on the left wing.

His manager acknowledged that Arnold faced a challenging start but has shown clear improvement as the loan has progressed.

He has also been praised for his positive impact off the bench and consistently strong attitude.
