Darel Tidman-Poole to leave Shrewsbury Town Women at the end of the season
Shrewsbury Town Women can confirm that Head Coach Darel Tidman-Poole will step down from her role at the end of the season.
Tidman-Poole joined the club in June 2024 and has overseen a successful period for the women’s side during her time in charge.
In her first season at the helm, Town enjoyed a historic run to the Third Round Proper of the FA Cup, while also lifting the League Cup. Earlier this month, the side added further silverware with victory in the Tom Farmer Cup (Shropshire County Cup).
Directors Chloe Hudson-Jones, Brogan Cook, and Leanne Rimmer collectively send their thanks to Darel, stating: “We are grateful for Darel’s successful leadership over the last two seasons.
"Darel made us aware in January that her new job would impact her availability. Whilst many others would have just left mid-season, Darel stayed and has tried to provide as much stability as possible over the last few months.
"This is testament to her commitment to the team. Our loss is certainly the FA’s gain, we are thrilled she is pursuing her ambitions and we wish her the very best for a fruitful and successful career in the women’s game”
Darel added: “After a lot of thought, I’ve made the tough decision to step away from my head coach role.
"Since starting a new job in January, it’s become increasingly difficult for me to give the role the level of time, energy and commitment that I believe the players, staff and club deserve.
"While everyone has adapted brilliantly and supported me throughout that period, I’ve always felt that this role requires full commitment, and unfortunately, I’m no longer able to provide that consistently.
"I want to thank all of the players for the way they’ve responded and adjusted over the last few months, as well as the staff who have stepped up whenever needed to help support the group and maintain standards.
"My full focus remains on finishing the season strongly with this group, and I’m looking forward to enjoying the remainder of the journey together.”
With Darel’s departure, Shrewsbury Town Women now open expressions of interest for the Head Coach position.
